Sydney Festival 2027: Hannah Gadsby & Gillian Cosgriff announced

Hannah Gadsby and Gillian Cosgriff have been added to the Sydney Festival 2027 program, with both comedians bringing new shows to the city in January.

Hannah will perform at the Roslyn Packer Theatre from 7 to 10 January, while Gillian brings her interactive comedic games night to the Sydney Opera House for two shows only, 16 & 23 January.

Hannah Gadsby

In their new stand-up show, Hannah revisits stories they have told before and looks at them again with the benefit of hindsight. The show explores the idea that people rarely recognise a defining moment while they are living through it, and only make sense of it years later.

Hannah rose to international prominence with Nanette, the 2018 Netflix special that won Emmy, Peabody and AACTA awards. They have since released the specials Douglas, Something Special and Gender Agenda.

Away from stand-up, Gadsby wrote the New York Times best-selling memoir Ten Steps to Nanette, curated an exhibition with the Brooklyn Museum and appeared in Netflix’s Sex Education.

The Sydney season runs for four nights at the Roslyn Packer Theatre. The icon who rewrote the rules of comedy is back, how lucky are you Sydney!

Expect a gloriously unpolished chaos of quizzes, guest stars and slightly-too-competitive shenanigans. From niche musical trivia to unskilled physical nonsense, this never-to-be-repeated evening is a sweet treat you won’t regret indulging.
