Congratulations 2027 Moosehead Award Recipients!

For 40 years, The Moosehead Awards have championed the bold and the brilliantly original.

Since 1987 the beloved Moose has been part of the DNA of Melbourne’s unique and globally revered comedy scene. It continues to provide financial support to Australian comedians creating new work and taking creative risks. It has helped bring some truly innovative, ambitious and delightfully bonkers ideas to life on stage, backing artists who dare to think differently and audiences who are lucky enough to witness the results.

And now, the recipients of the 2027 Moosehead Awards have officially been announced.

Please join us in celebrating this year’s successful applicants:

Jess Fuchs: Jess turns crowd work and oversharing into pure, high-speed chaos. Previous Sydney Comedy Festival FRESH and NSW RAW Comedy finalist.

Kate Dehnert: Kate is a multi-disciplinary award-nominated comedian and writer. Her recent show Echo was part stand-up, part theatre and part rave.

Freddie Arthur: From Mildura to the main stage, Freddie proves no family is more dysfunctional than hers, and she’s got the stories (and songs) to prove it.

Jo Gowda: Indian-born, Brisbane-based, Jo turns the chaos of immigrant life, marriage and motherhood into comedy gold. Melbourne Comedy Festival Best Newcomer nominee  and two-time RAW Comedy national finalist.

Con Coutis: Con builds comedy worlds in surround sound that you won’t find anywhere else. Previous Golden Gibbo nominee and Melbourne Fringe award winner.

Here’s to another year of big swings, bold ideas and keeping the spirit of independent comedy alive. Long live The Moose.
