Award Winners at The Perth Fringe World

What huge start to Comedy Festival Season! Congratulations to all the very funny artists for finishing up an incredible season at Fringe World!
A huge shout out to three of Australia’s funniest for taking home a Fringe World Comedy Award!

Tom Ballard won the Week 1 Comedy Award with his brand new show “Be Funny Challenge (Impossible)“. After a year away from touring, doing nothing but being very nice and uncontroversial, Australia’s Special Envoy For Comedy Tom Ballard has returned in 2026 with a new show packed with heaps of jokes about all the stuff. The world is extremely normal right now and everyone’s getting along really well, so why don’t we all just get together and have a nice laugh about it, you know?

Congratulations to Pete Helliar on winning the Week 2 Comedy Award and his new show “An International Kerfuffle” Directed by Zoë Coombs Marr. What happens when a well-meaning comedian makes a cheeky joke about ISIS… during a live interview with Tim Cahill… on national TV… right before a World Cup qualifier against Honduras? A full-blown international incident, apparently. In this hilariously outrageous true story, Pete Helliar finds himself at the centre of a media firestorm after a throwaway line on The Project goes global. It’s a wild, hilarious deep dive into intent, outrage, and the terrifying power of one well-timed punchline. Was Pete off side—or just ahead of the game?

And a HUGE congratulations to Rove McManus took home the the final Week 4 Comedy Award with their show “Tales From The Talk Show Trenches“. Rove has had over 25 years of talk show hosting under his belt. That’s a lot of talking…as well as chatting, conversing, interviewing, chin wagging and general banging-on – so why stop now? Only this time, it’s you the audience who get to ask the questions. Favourite guest? Worst disaster? What’s Elmo really like?

You can catch all of these award winning shows on their National Tours – Tickets on sale now!
