Judith Lucy and Denise Scott commended in King’s Birthday Honours
Congratulations to Judith Lucy and Denise Scott, who have both been named in today’s King’s Birthday Honours list!
Judith has been celebrated for her ‘significant service to the performing arts as an entertainer’, and Denise for her ‘significant service to the arts as a comedian and actress’.
“I considered not accepting this for a bunch of reasons (including, ‘Don’t a lot of people deserve this just as much if not way more than me?’) but then I thought, ‘Screw it, how often do funny ladies get a pat on the back?’ I’m delighted. Oi, oi, oi!”

“I feel absolutely honoured to be appointed a Member (AM) of the Order of Australia for significant service to the arts as a comedian and actress. To be listed alongside medical folk who save lives, community volunteers who assist refugees and scientists devoted to saving our planet is humbling. I mean really humbling. I mean I don’t expect anything except that now everyone be upstanding and curtsy/bow when I enter a room.”
